Barleu opened in early 2017 and has quickly become one of my favourite places for a quick coffee in Bandung.
The coffee here is quite strong and that’s because their default is to use 2 shots of espresso. I like this strength of coffee, but some might find it too strong. If you don’t like a strong coffee, just ask for one shot. Otherwise the coffee is a bold and punchy double shot. Yum!
Susan had a matcha latte and it actually had a hint of a green Thai tea flavour in it which in itself isn’t a bad thing. Susan did say that her drink was a little sweet for her liking. Maybe ask for half sugar.
I also tried the pisang goreng and surprisingly I though it was delish! Super sweet bananas and crispy batter makes for good pisang goreng and I’d be happy to eat this again for a snack.
The coffee shop has a tiny indoor area which is really brightly lit. It’s a nice place to hang out for a while. For smokers, there is quite a large veranda area which is perfect for nongkronging on for hours on end.
Wifi was medium speed when I was there, but it seems it might be able to achieve 20mbps in off-peak times. In other words, it’s a decent place to open a laptop.
