The name of this place is quite odd and doesn’t really make sense. But I’m not one to judge a book by its cover (much), so I thought I’d give it a try anyway.
The cafe is well designed and doesn’t really focus on coffee so much — it’s a proper cafe with a full food menu as well.Despite this, I was here for the coffee so I ordered a cappuccino and Susan ordered a banana choco which is basically a chocolate milkshake with banana in it.
The coffee wasn’t very nice. There seemed to be some cinnamon sprinkled on top of my cappuccino like they would have done in Bandung back in 2012. Also, at the bottom of my coffee there was a pile of coffee grounds which was disappointing. The standard of coffee in Bandung at the moment is very high — perhaps world class. And unfortunately the coffee at Pillow Talk is a long way from this standard.
Susan’s banana choco was enjoyable, but also quite expensive at about Rp42.000 when you include tax and service.Wifi here is fast and there is plenty of room to open a laptop and work. I clocked 18mbps down and 8mbps up on my speedtest and it felt quite snappy.
I really like this place as a casual hang out place as well as a place to get some work done. I just hope they can continue to work on the coffee because at this stage it’s not quite there.
